• www.aziznasutiphotography.com History:
The Trondheim canal, or rather canal harbour, was built during the 1870ies and was ready for use in 1884. It was built by raising the sandbanks utside town and building quays and railroad station on this articifially built island. The whole area is an island.
The quays at the seaside were built for ships going overseas and the quays on the town side for local ships. Between these quays a new central railway station for Trondheim was built.
When the railroad was changed from narrow gauge to normal gauge a lifting bridge was built at Skansen at the western part och the canal. This bridge was opened for traffic in 1918, and is the only lifting bridge for railroads in Norway that is still used.
In the eastern part of the canal there are to two lifting bridges for cars, but they are not in use any longer.
The canal has one further connection to the sea, the Ravnkloa canal. It runs from the midst of the canal out to the sea. There's a fixed bridge crossing the canal. Small sightseeingboats to the old castle Munkholmen use this canal in the sumnmer.

  • Aurora over Nidarosdomen (Domkirke) Nidaros Cathedral is a Church of Norway, located in the city of Trondheim in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. Built over the burial site of Saint Olaf, the king of Norway in the 11th century, who became the patron saint of the nation.
It was such a clear sky in Trondheim with fabulous northern light. It was so strong that you could see the dancing light even inside the city with all those light pollutions.

  • www.aziznasutiphotography.com Fosenkaia is located on Brattøra, from Jernbanebrua to Ravnkløpet, named in 1958 by Fosen Trafikkselskap A / S, which until 1992 had its terminal and office building here. Those of the company's boats that went on a route between Fosen and Trondheim went to the dock here. Fosenkaia was from 1880 and well a hundred years ahead an important hub between city and upland. At the end of the 1980s, Fosenkaia had played its role as a focal point when Fosen Trafikkselskap moved its business to the Pirter terminal.
In the western part of Fosenkaia are the veteran boats, see the Boats on Fosenkaia.
Along the quays, more of the ancient kayaks are preserved, p. a nr 4A with VisevertsHuset (ex. Mrs Inger) and nr. 10 Gulskuret with Café Skuret. These were refurbished to the city jubilee in 1997.

  • One of the most beautiful nights in Trondheim. I was trying to capture the northern light above the Nidelva and bakklandet. You see the colorful wooden houses and the greenish sky . IT was such a wonderful

  • www.aziznasutiphotography.com Trondheim with picturesque, tiny, wooden houses. This idyllic neighbourhood on the east side of the Nidelva river features old timber buildings, originally the homes of the working class. Now restored, Bakklandet is a charming mixture of houses, shops and cafés.
Nidelva river cuts through the city, winding its way along the Nidarosdomen park and picturesque areas, with the historic, wooden wharf houses lining its sides towards the mouth at the Trondheim fjord, and the beautiful, wooden bridge amle Bybrocrossing the river.

  • Nidelven has its very own song, Nidelven Stille og Vakker du er ("Nidelven [how] Still and Beautiful you are"). The popular waltz was written by Norwegian composer Oskar Hoddø (1916–1943). According to tradition, Hoddø wrote the waltz about the Nidelva River one night in late April 1940 while he was standing at Gamle Bybro in Trondheim.

  • website: www.azinasutiphotography.com Ver special colors on Trondheim on 28 May 2018. I was very surprised to see such a strange but beautiful colors in the sky. At Nidelva's outlet there have been seaside stalls, breweries and warehouses all the way from the oldest times. Here the towners traded with goods from far and near.

At the time of King Sverres, the bridges were also used as defense works. Towards the river, screens and times were built. From here you could throw stones on the enemy. In Magnus Lagabøte's city council of 1276, it is stated that the swallow, a passageway outside the bridges, should not be wider than three ales; further that between the brews should be "droplet" distance. The brewery that is still preserved is located on both sides of Nidelva - in Kjøpmannsgata, in Bakklandet, in Fjordgata and Sandgata. The oldest preserved breweries are from the mid-18th century.

  • You have not truly been to Trondheim without having crossed the Old Town Bridge. The Old Town Bridge crosses the river Nidelven from the southern end of Kjøpmannsgata and connects the city centre with Bakklandet. Bakklandet is an exciting neighbourhood with inviting cafes and unique boutiques. The bike lift «Trampe» also has its starting point at Bakklandet. Text from Visit Norway.
